Kungsleden FKT

On August 20th I completed my thru-hike of Kungsleden in Sweden, establishing the Fastest Known Time for women, self-supported in 6 days, 7 hours, 50 minutes.

Big thank you to Mountain Hardwear for outfitting and supporting me on this adventure!

You can read more about my adventure by checking out my Kungsleden trail dispatches below. Plus, I’ll be sharing vlogs from the journey on my YouTube channel.

Kungsleden Quick Facts

  • Kungsleden (King's Trail) is a hiking trail in northern Sweden, approximately 467 kilometres (290 mi) long, between Hemavan in the south and Abisko in the north.

  • The trail passes through varied landscape in the Lapland mountain world. There are dramatic changes along the way between alpine terrain and low-lying mountain birch forest.

  • There are 16 mountain cabins along Kungsleden, separated by 10-20 kilometers with exception to a 113 mile stretch between Kvikkjokk and Ammarnäs.

  • The trail has seven water crossings that are necessary to cross by boat. Most are motorized, but for at least one you must row yourself!

  • Only one woman (Emelie Forsberg) had recorded a Fastest Known Time on the Kungsleden before my hike. My goal was to establish the women’s self-supported FKT and inspire more women to get after multi-day FKTs and adventures!
